Inventory UoM

This page is linked to the 1. Item Master Data documentation and the Produmex/Invetory tab. It addresses the topic of creating and defining a UoM group, as well as potential rounding issues.

The Base UoM is the smallest:

No rounding issues occur when the base UoM is the smallest UoM.

UoM Group contains the following:

Alt. Qty Alt. UoM Base Qty Base UoM
1 Each 1 Each
1 Outer Box 6 Each
1 Mega Box 12 Each

 UoM Group Definition

Base UoM is NOT the smallest:

A rounding issue could occur if the base UoM is not the smallest UoM. In this situation, you can manage to pick the item if you set the correct “Number of decimals” in the Item Master Data. → Item Master Data/Produmex/Inventory.

UoM Group contains the following:

Alt. Qty Alt. UoM Base Qty Base UoM
1 Crate 1 Crate
4 Piece 1 Crate

The set “Number of Decimals for UoM” is 2!

More useful setting options:

More examples for the special case if the base UoM is not the smallest. (We believe in such cases, it may work if the base UoM is not the smallest)

Alt.Qty for next UoM in the group Number of decimals for UoM
2 1
4 2
5 1
8 3
10 1
16 4
20 2
25 2

Note: Please be aware that if you use Alt.Qty differs from the examples provided (e.g.: 3, 6, 9, 12,…), then set the number of decimals to 6 for the base UoM. However, even with this adjustment, correct operation cannot be guaranteed in all cases.
